Listen to an interview with Batool Al-Khawaja, daughter of Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja, a leading human rights activist in Bahrain, who was arrested and beaten unconscious by police in the early morning of April 9, 2011. His current whereabouts and the whereabouts of his two sons-in-law arrested at the same time remain unknown. Batool’s sister, Zainab Alkhawaja, is on a hunger strike that she vows to continue until her family members are released Batool was interviewed by Anna Maria Tremonti of CBC’s The Current on April 19, 2011. Abdulhadi is the former President of the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights (BCHR) and has been active in the pro-democracy movement.
