10 cheers for 10 years of Play it Fair!

2016 is an exciting year as it marks the Tenth Year Anniversary of Equitas’ Play it Fair! Program

Offering a flexible set of tools and fun activities that promote diversity, respect and participation of children aged 6-12, Play it Fair! has been used from coast to coast in day camps, community organizations, classrooms and afterschool programs.

Over the past 10 years, Play it Fair! has built children’s capacity to cooperate, be more inclusive and accepting and to work together to address issues like bullying, exclusion and discrimination, while empowering them to be leaders in promoting respect for diversity, inclusion and equality.

Play it Fair! in numbers :

Since 2006, 700,000 children have participated in Play it Fair! in 42 communities across Canada and nearly 15 countries around the world.

32,000 staff working in 300+ organizations across Canada have been trained in Play it Fair!; building their capacity to promote positive behaviours and respect for all, while ensuring children from diverse backgrounds have the opportunity to grow and reach their potential!

Children of Surrey: “Kindness Counts”

Throughout the year, children in Surrey participate Equitas’ Play it Fair! value-based games to develop and grow healthy and resilient while learning about their rights, develop leadership skills and build community connections.

Children from the English Montreal School Board learn to Play it Fair!

On May 6, 2016 over 200 children gathered at Dante Elementary School in Montreal. Together, they celebrated community action projects they led as part of Equitas’ “Play it Fair!” program.

Thank you for 10 amazing years working together for Canadian children!

Thank you to our fabulous and dedicated partners from coast to coast who continue to dedicate time and resources to implement Play it Fair! into their programs.

Partners throughout Canada will continue to reaffirm the importance of Play it Fair! and relay how it has shaped and strengthened their programming and organizational practices.

Together with our strong partnerships, we continue to build off the successes of the last 10 years by further supporting children’s leadership to take action to make their schools and communities more inclusive and accepting places to be!

The Play it Fair! program is made possible thanks to the active participation of Equitas partners across Canada and the generous financial support of the TD Bank Group, The City of Montreal, the Quebec Ministry of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusion, United Way of the Lower Mainland, the MK Social Justice Fund at the Foundation of Greater Montreal and the Edith Lando Charitable Foundation
