At Equitas, we work to defend the rights outline in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) every day through our transformative education programs. John P. Humphrey, who co-drafted the UDHR, was one of the founders of Equitas back in 1967.
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the UDHR today, December 10th, we decided to highlight the work done by two human rights defenders who share the same mission of making their communities–and by extension, the world–more inclusive and understanding.
Both Rita Iszàk and Youveline Gervil address some of the obstacles we still face as a society in the quest for social justice. They invite everyone to #StandUp4HumanRights by identifying moments of injustice and denouncing them. “Don’t tolerate what does not deserve to be tolerated,” says Gervil.
Watch now to learn more about the history of the UDHR, John P. Humphrey, who these human rights defenders are and what motivates them to fight for justice every day.
