March 20, 2013: Toronto Cocktail celebrates Play it Fair!

Friends and supporters of Equitas came together for a lovely evening to celebrate the achievements of  its Play it Fair! program in Toronto. Graciously and generously hosted by long-time supporter and partner TD Bank Group, the event was held in the beautiful Lambert Room on the 54th floor of the TD Tower, offering spectacular views of the city. Alan Convery, National Manager of Community Relations for the TD Bank Group welcomed guests on behalf of TD Bank Group and spoke about how committed TD is to the Play it Fair! program. Razia Mangalie, of the City of Toronto’s Walter Perry After-School Recreation and Care program talked about her personal experience using Play it Fair! in the after school program she works at, saying how using the games makes a true difference in the way kids are learning to interact with each other and respect one another. Guest of honour, Jamaal Magloire, Toronto Raptor Community Ambassador, shared his personal experience about losing his 19 year old brother to a violent crime and how vital it is to start teaching respect, human rights and equality from a young age.  Involving children in human rights education is a critical step in the work of building strong and healthy communities. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the event.  Your support helps to ensure that we can continue to work towards our goal of building a global culture of human rights.  A special thanks to our sponsors: TD Bank Group, CGI and Stikeman Elliott and to Darin Renton and Keri Johnston for their generous financial support.
