A few days ago, several organizations working with children in Algiers brought together over 300 children to celebrate International Children’s Day. For the occasion, they played several games from the toolkit: Around the World with a Hula Hoop, The Noisiest Game in the World, and Fishing for Rights and Responsibilities! “The kids loved the Noisiest Game in the World! Thanks to Equitas, your time and your effort, that children have learned to know their rights!,” reported one of the leaders who participated in the needs assessment conducted recently by Equitas in Algiers.
Equitas is working in partnership with the Algerian Network for the Defence of Children’s Rights (NADA) to implement Equitas’ Play it Fair! program and visited Algeria in March to conduct a needs assessment. “The project aims to strengthen the capacity of schools to promote the positive values of human rights, such as non-discrimination and the peaceful conflict resolution. All children are concerned, especially those who live in difficult conditions, vulnerable or marginalized. “Says Hamida Goufi, Program Director at NADA. The next step of the implementation of Play it Fair!, which will take place in the coming weeks, is a training of teachers so that they can implement Play it Fair! in 10 schools in Algiers.
