Jean-Sébastien has worked for the past 15 years in the fields of education, copyright and human rights. He is and now Director of Education at Equitas since December 2020 and accepted in 2023 the role of Director of Education and Communications. Before accepting this position at Equitas, Jean-Sebastien worked for a year and a half as Director of the Education Sector at Copibec, the Quebec collective management company for reproduction rights. He has already worked for more than 10 years at Equitas with the education team prior to this experience. He has developed many educational tools, including manuals and educational toolkits on various issues, and on the integration of a human rights-based approach into the programming of international organizations. He has facilitated training and implemented programs in Canada, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, India, Vanuatu, Haiti and the Bahamas. He has an interest and knowledge of various human rights issues and international standards for the promotion and protection of human rights.
Prior to joining Equitas, Jean-Sebastien also worked as a human rights educator at the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse du Québec. He was responsible for the design and development of pedagogical material for schools. He has a Master’s degree in Second-Language Education from McGill University and has taught at different levels.
