On June 15, open your Montreal home to human rights defenders for one evening!
Does the cultural diversity of our world peak your interest?
Do you enjoy intercultural exchanges?
Are you passionate about human rights and what we can do to make the world a better place?
Every Summer, 90 human rights defenders from over 50 countries come to Montreal for three weeks. They are the lucky few chosen out of hundreds of applicants to attend the
International Human Rights Training Program (IHRTP), a unique program Equitas has been holding for 39 years.
A favourite part of the IHRTP is the Host Family Dinner, which gives Montrealers the incredible opportunity to extend a typical Montreal welcome, and open their homes to human rights defenders from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe over dinner.
“For one night, my house felt like a hostel, filled with people from the four corners of the globe, all looking to make new friends and learn about new cultures. It’s as though I had traveled the world without even leaving my house. ” – Mikaël, Host 2016
How to participate
Bring the world into your home, and meet some of the world’s bravest and most inspiring individuals!
As a host you will welcome a small group of people (between 3 and 5) on Friday June 15, 2018 for the evening, around dinner time. This is a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and learn more about the incredible work Equitas partners and participants are doing around the world on human rights issues such as women’s and girls’ rights, children’s rights, freedom of press, LGBT rights and more.
