Be a part of positive social change
Imagine working for an organization whose primary mission is to advance equality, social justice and respect for human dignity. Imagine that your work aligns with your personal values and that you participate every day in creating positive social change through transformative human rights education programs. Alongside 40 like-minded colleagues in Canada and partners around the world, you could help empower people to address inequality and discrimination, and work to build more inclusive and rights-respecting communities with Equitas.
The Opportunity
Human rights education changes people. Equitas has trained more than 6,000 practitioners who carry that change into schools, governments, civil society organizations, and communities across the globe. But a network of 6,000 people working in silos is only a fraction of what it could be as a connected collective.
This role is a pioneering and strategic mandate: to build, from the ground up, the vision, systems, and relationships that transform Equitas’ alumni into a global community and movement advancing equality and social justice together.
The Senior Officer will design and lead the development of Equitas’ alumni ecosystem creating the infrastructure, value proposition and engagement model that makes alumni want to connect, collaborate, and contribute. This includes shaping how the community functions, what it offers, and how it generates meaningful impact for both alumni and the broader human rights movement.
As part of the Impact and Innovation Team, the Senior Officer acts as a movement builder and strategic connector matching people, ideas, and opportunities across regions. The role aims to unlock the full potential of Equitas’ alumni as a collective force, strengthening human rights movements globally while contributing to Equitas’ visibility, partnerships, and long-term growth.

- Promote resilience, ethical engagement, and appropriate referral/support practices
- Partnership development and global visibility
- Identify and cultivate partnership opportunities emerging from the alumni community (e.g., collaborations with alumni-led organizations, institutions, or networks)
- Strengthen Equitas’ global positioning by mobilizing alumni as leaders, experts, trainers, and advocates
- Support the development of alumni leadership capacity to sustain and grow the network beyond direct institutional support
- Collaborate with the Communications team to amplify alumni stories and Equitas’ global impact through storytelling, media content and campaigns
- Coordinate alumni involvement in Equitas’ global events, panels, and advocacy initiatives to enhance visibility and impact

- Explore sustainable models that strengthen the long-term viability of the alumni network
