The opportunity
Equitas is looking for a highly motivated Education Specialist – Middle East and North Africa, passionate about human rights, equality, and inclusion, and with experience in design, materials development education, and training facilitation. The Education Specialist, MENA will be responsible for developing, delivering, and evaluating the education activities of Equitas programs in the region. Reporting to the Director of Education, she/he is a team player and will work closely with program officers assigned to the region, as well as other education specialists.
Tasks and main Responsibilities
1. Design and development of educational materials
- Carry out educational design of training resources (i.e., content development, production of training manuals, development of online training)
- Review educational material in close collaboration with the MENA program team, other educational specialists, as well as partner organizations, consultants, or other stakeholders
- Support the development of content for the online educational platform
2. Program delivery
- Participate in the implementation of online and on-site training session in the MENA region. This includes consulting with program officers assigned to the region and partners in the development of training content, guiding the local facilitation team, facilitating training or supporting their facilitation remotely if travel is not possible, lead and/or participate in debriefing meetings during training and ensure effective evaluation of results
- Support partners through mentoring and follow-up on all aspects related to the implementation and evaluation of an education program
- Participate in other activities related to the delivery of the program, as required
3. Evaluation
- Develop data collection tools for educational activities and/or validation activities in close collaboration with the monitoring evaluation and reporting advisor
- Design evaluation processes and tools
- Analyze date and write reports
- Contribute to the preparation of narrative reports for donors
4. Communication and knowledge sharing
- Contribute to the implementation of Equitas’ knowledge sharing strategy internally, as well as externally, in collaboration with the knowledge manager
- Facilitate information/educational sessions for Equitas staff
- Share good practices in education especially on online spaces such as the online platform Rawabet and social media, with the goal to increase understanding of human rights education and Equitas programs
5. Program development
- Contribute to the development of new programs and annual planning
- Contribute to the development of funding proposals
- Participate in meetings with key stakeholders, partners, and decision makers
6. Other tasks
Contribute, as assigned, to the continued growth and strengthening of Equitas and its programs.
What is essential to the role
Experiences and skills:
- Minimum of 3 years of formal experience in educational design and/or curriculum development for participatory training programs or training delivery
- Formal education/training in instructional design/curriculum development or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated facilitation skills
- Proven conceptual and analytical skills
- Proven skills in problem solving
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment with diverse programming partners
- Excellent team spirit and leadership
- Experience in designing online training courses is an asset
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Words, Excel, and Power Point (knowledge of SharePoint, Salesforce, InDesign, Photoshop, and other software would be an asset)
- Knowledge of international and regional human rights issues and social injustices is an asset
- Knowledge and experience of working with gender equality approaches is an asset
Language requirement:
- Excellent communication skills, speaking and writing in French
- Understanding and ability to speak and write Arabi is an asset
- Ability to communicate in English
Other considerations:
- Candidates must have the ability to travel and participate in programs in the MENA regions 1-2 times per year.
- Remote work is possible for this position.
