More than 150 km were completed by our 19 runners!
19 people ran and raised funds for Equitas and human rights education in the Scotia Bank Virtual Race this summer. More than $7 500 were raised this year for our first participation in the race. You can still donate to Equitas and support human rights education here!
Why do we need these funds?
In just a few months, COVID-19 has gone from a distant threat to a global pandemic that has affected every facet of our society.
While this unprecedented crisis is forcing us all to make sacrifices, some communities are more affected than others.
We know that in times of crisis, the most vulnerable populations have limited capacity to ensure basic needs and human rights while others have more privilege. Many vulnerable groups like women, children, and LGBTQI communities therefore face even greater risks and dangers.
At Equitas, we believe that human rights education is a driving force for strengthening communities and supporting vulnerable people.
By supporting Equitas and making a donation, you are helping us to provide knowledge and tools to support the empowerment of vulnerable groups, and to strengthen the leadership of these groups so that they can protect and claim their rights, which are even more at risk in this time of crisis.
Thanks to all of our devoted runners!
