Naϊké Ledan | Director of International Policy and Advocacy, Health GAP

Naϊké Ledan (she) a queer activist committed to defending social justice and a fervent feminist, brings 20 years’ enriching experience in promoting human rights and social justice. She has dedicated her efforts to fighting for universal access to essential services and promoting social inclusion, while building the capacity of civil society. Her professional career spans Canada, East and Southern Africa, Latin America and Haiti, where she has been active in defending civil rights and building the capacity of civil society organizations. She has particularly focused on the social determinants of structural exclusions, seeking to remove barriers to equality and justice.

Naϊké Ledan values the principles of shared leadership and is actively engaged in anti-colonial, anti-oppressive and anti-patriarchal spaces. She currently supports civil societies in various countries, including Liberia, Cameroon, Lesotho, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Malawi, in their commitment to the accountability of donors such as the Global Fund and PEPFAR, among others. In addition, she has contributed to local initiatives in Haiti in partnership with organizations such as the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the Organization of American States (OAS) and UNAIDS, among others. Naϊké Ledan holds a Master’s degree in International Development from the Université de Montréal and is currently pursuing graduate studies in Global Public Health at New York University’s Global Institute of Public Health.
