”Let’s Talk About it!” in Quebec City : Registration call

Across Canada, including in Quebec, educators, youth workers, and community organizations are witnessing a troubling rise in expressions of hate, racism, and polarization in community and youth spaces. In Quebec, approximately one-third (34%) of young people aged 15 to 29 reported experiencing discrimination or unfair treatment between 2019 and 2024 based on factors such as their physical appearance, race or skin colour, cultural or ethnic background, religion, gender identity, and/or sexual orientation, among others.

Such discrimination can, at times, escalate into acts of hate that have lasting negative impacts not only on affected young people, but also on Quebec society as a whole by undermining social cohesion, trust, a sense of belonging, and equitable access to opportunities.

Human rights education plays a critical role in addressing this trend by equipping adult allies of youth, including youth workers, with practical strategies and tools to prevent and respond to discriminatory and hateful speech and behaviours targeting children and young people.

For this reason, Equitas is organizing a one-day in-person training on its toolkit: Let’s Talk About It!

This education tool builds the capacity of youth workers and educators to facilitate difficult conversations, such as racism, bullying, and faith-based discrimination, using participatory methodologies and integrating a human rights-based approach.

Who is it for?
