Jessica (she/her) joined Equitas’ Canadian team as a Program Officer in October 2022. She has worked in children- and youth-serving organizations for much of her career, including at a neighbourhood house, an international school in Mexico, a museum, and a food education and food security non-profit. She was first introduced to Equitas’ Play It Fair toolkit in 2009 (and later the Speaking Rights toolkit) when she worked at a neighbourhood house in Vancouver with newcomer children and youth, focusing on developing their leadership capacities.
Jessica holds a Master’s degree in Community Development, which was grounded in principles of empowerment, human rights, inclusion, social justice, self-determination and collective action.
