The opportunity
Equitas is Canadian non-profit organization dedicated to advancing equality, social justice and respect for human dignity in Canada and around the world through human rights education. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Development & Innovation, the Fund Development Coordinator plays a key role in the coordination and execution of the Financial Resource Mobilization Strategy with a view to enhance the diversification of funds to support the success and impact of Equitas’ educational programs in Canada and internationally. The Fund Development Coordinator will play an active and meaningful role within the Impact and Innovation team.
Tasks and main Responsibilities
Coordination of Fund Development Activities
- Coordinate the delivery of the annual fundraising campaign.
- Coordinate the organization’s fundraising activities.
- Prepare tools (presentations, leters, reports, cases for support, etc.) to facilitate approaching prospective donors, sponsors, foundations, etc.
- Contribute to stewardship activities with donors and potential donors (ex. newsleters) and identify new engagement opportunities.
- Work in close collaboration with the Senior Communications Officer in ensuring that Equitas’ online engagement strategies (social media, web, etc.) are optimized to support fundraising goals.
- Contribute to Program Fund Development activities aimed at raising funds for specific projects.
- Ensure that accurate and up-to-date information is maintained on all donors and prospects in relevant databases and filing systems.
- Further develop donor profiles and analyze data to help guide the Financial Resource Mobilization Strategy.
- Ensure donors are thanked and recognized appropriately and receive receipts for donations as required.
- Collaborate with the Senior Finance Analyst to ensure fundraising budgets, forecasts, incomes and expenditures are closely monitored.
- Supports consulting initiatives (including operational tools, logistics and documentation) as part of the implementation of the Financial Resource Mobilization Strategy.
Other - Perform other administrative and logistics tasks as assigned and required for the success of Equitas and its Financial Resource Mobilization Strategy (e.g.: budget support and coordination with Finance, Salesforce, MailChimps list management in MailChimp, development of visuals in Canva, annual report send-out coordination, statistics and KPIs, etc.).
- Provide support to members of the Impact and Innovation team as needed.

You have strong strategic, analytical, and organizational skills, with experience supporting the development and implementation of fundraising strategies, donor engagement activities, and campaign planning. You have excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders while managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
What is essential for the role
- Commitment to the mission and values of Equitas;
- University degree in a relevant field for the position, such as Communications,
Philanthropy, Project Management, Marketing, Business Development, International Development, etc. - One to three (1 to 3) years of relevant experience in the implementation of fundraising activities and in the execution of fundraising campaigns.
- Experience with databases, such as ProDon, Salesforce and/or plateforms like Givecloud or CanadaHelps.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write dynamic fundraising pieces and inspire people to support Equitas’ mission.
- Mastery of Office suite and solid IT skills.
- Proficiency in both English and French in writing and orally.
Asset for the position
- Experience working in a non-profit organization focused on human rights and social justice issues.
- Experience with event organization an asset.
- Experience in the fields of human rights, human rights education, and/or social justice issues.
- Understanding of the human rights-based approach, gender-based analysis, and innovative approaches.
- Experience working in a multicultural environment.
