Celebrating International Human Rights Day – View photos of the work of our alumni

On this December 10, 2014, Human Rights Day, Equitas salutes all human rights defenders and educators working around the world to promote and protect human rights. We also have the pleasure of announcing the winner of our 2014 Photo Contest. We asked our program alumni to submit photos that documented, through images and stories, the results of their human rights education work. We received images from around the world each depicting the issues that our alumni are engaged in:  women’s rights, children’s rights, the right to an education, access to justice…. The photos were evaluated for their artistic quality and for the stories they told by the on-line Equitas Community of alumni. We are pleased to announce that this year’s most outstanding photo  was submitted by Awa Diouf of Senegal, an alumna of our regional training session in West Africa. The photo was taken in Sao, Senegal during a community mobilisation event meant to create a space for dialogue to encourage greater participation of women in public affairs and decisions from the family to the local community. The aim is to enable rural women to participate in discussions and contribute to raising the level of awareness of the village women’s organizations in their roles and the importance of their participation in discussions and local decision-making Below, find all the photos submitted to the contest depicting the work of our alumni around the world, 365 days a year.
