November 6, 2014 Please join us in supporting Equitas’ annual Gala which will take place on Thursday, February 12, 2015, 7:00 pm, at the magnificent 7e CIEL room at the world renowned Cirque du Soleil Headquarters in Montreal. Your magical evening begins with a glass of bubbly before being whisked up to the stunning 7th floor by the Cirque’s “Elevator Valet”. An exclusive private Cirque du Soleil performance, music and dancing with a DJ, open bar and a sumptuous cocktail – Cirque du Soleil style – will delight your palate, followed by a ‘nocturnal buffet’ for those who opt to stay and dance the night away. The incredible items up for bid at the silent auction and raffle will tempt your every desire. Floor to ceiling windows, magnificent lighting and the wonderful Cirque du Soleil atmosphere – complete with clown noses for all – perfect the evening. We expect a capacity crowd, including prominent supporters of Equitas from government as well as prominent figures from the business, non-profit, academic, artistic and professional communities. Some previous guest speakers who have supported Equitas events include Lt. Gen. Romeo Dallaire, Former National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Phil Fontaine, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Prof. Muhammad Yunus, and the Rt. Hon Michaëlle Jean. Equitas – International Centre for Human Rights Education was founded in Montreal nearly 50 years ago by a group of eminent Canadian scholars and social activists, including John Humphrey, one of the drafters of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and Thérèse Casgrain, campaigner for women’s right to vote in Quebec. Equitas is a non-profit organization working for the advancement of equality, social justice and respect for human dignity in Canada and around the world. Equitas’ renowned programs provide human rights defenders with the necessary tools to shape attitudes and positive behaviours, thus contributing to a lasting social change. Proceeds from this event will be used to further develop Equitas programming in Canada and overseas and to support our ongoing work.
