Dr. Sawsan Al Refai is an expert in Public Policy and Advocacy. She managed and provided technical support to government, civil society organizations, United Nations and other international organizations in the Arab region and East Europe in areas of gender/human rights and results based policy and advocacy. In addition, she has extensive experience working in monitoring and evaluating development programs and third party monitoring from a gender perspective. She has extensive experience working in humanitarian settings and emergencies. Dr. Al Refai is a researcher and author in the area of social policy mainly in subjects of women rights, gender mainstreaming in social policy and gender based violence. She is founding member of the Arab Network for Civic Education in the Arab region. Dr. Al Refai holds a Master’s degree in health policy, planning and financing, from London School of Economics, a diploma in population and gender studies from University of Costa Rica. She is an accredited trainer in International Human Rights Mechanisms, Gender Mainstreaming and GBV. She is now working with Equitas as Education Specialist for the Middle-East and North Africa.
