Bing Arguelles – Program Officer, Asia
Bing, also known as Milagros, is responsible for Equitas’ programs in Asia, particularly the Indonesia Program, follow-up in Asia and the Migrant Workers Program. She joined Equitas in May 1998. Prior to this, Bing worked with the Philippine government and international organizations in Manila as a consultant specializing in grassroots development. Bing holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Carleton University, Ottawa, and an M.B.A. from the University of the Philippines.
Chris Bradley – Program Officer, International Human Rights Training Program (IHRTP)
Chris joined the Equitas team in 2005 and is responsible for the smooth delivery of the International Human Rights Training Program (IHRTP). He is also responsible for the overall development and coordination of Equitas’ regional programs in Central and Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union. Chris has a B.A. (Hons) Degree in Business Studies and a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from his native England.
Laura Butler – Program Officer, Canada (on leave)
Laura has been closely involved in coordinating the implementation of the Play it Fair! program in Vancouver, Toronto, Winnipeg and New Brunswick. Before joining Equitas, Laura worked with various non-governmental organizations in El Salvador, Guatemala, China, Switzerland and the UK with a focus on rural economic development. Laura has a Bachelor of Science degree in Development Economics and a Master of Science degree in Development Management from the London School of Economics.
Gail Dalgleish – Program Officer, Global Human Rights Education Program (GHREP)
Gail oversees the implementation of Equitas’ activities in East Africa and the Caribbean. Before joining Equitas, Gail was Assistant Director of International Programs for the Montreal YMCA, developing partnerships with YMCAs and social justice groups in Latin America. Gail also held the post of Executive Director of a community YMCA and was responsible for building programs for youth, seniors and families using rights based approaches. She has also been a consultant to a northern Québec community to build values-based programs for native youth.
Natalie Doyle – Program Officer, Global Human Rights Education Program (GHREP)
Natalie is a Program Officer for Global Human Rights Education Program responsible for activities in Francophone Africa and Latin America. Prior to joining Equitas, Natalie worked in Botswana with the Botswana Network on Ethics, Law and HIV/AIDS, and in Ethiopia with Right to Play and International Medical Corps. She also worked with the International Bureau for Children’s Rights here in Montréal writing a publication on the implementation of the CRC in the Great Lakes of Africa region and coordinating a program on children in armed conflict.
Frédéric Hareau – Director of Programs
Frédéric is responsible for the strategic development, fundraising, management and implementation of Equitas’ international programs. Frédéric has worked at Equitas for ten years, the first five as the Program Officer for the International Human Rights Training Program and the following ones as Program Officer for Equitas’ Canada programs. Frédéric returned to Equitas in February 2011 after two years as Director of Programs and Partnerships at Canada World Youth. He has a degree in agronomy engineering from the l’Institut National Agronomique de Paris-Grignon in France and has also worked for several international development and institution building projects in Africa.
Julie Kon Kam King – Senior Program Officer, Canada
Julie is responsible for overseeing Equitas’ Play it Fair! and Speaking Rights programs for children and youth across Canada. Prior to joining Equitas, Julie developed and managed social justice and legal education programs for Éducaloi in Montréal, the Ontario Justice Education Network in Toronto, and the Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development in Chiangmai, Thailand. Julie holds degrees in Common and Civil Law from McGill University, and a degree in Communications from the University of Ottawa.
Ruth Morrison– Program Officer, Canada
Ruth works primarily on the coordination and implementation of the Play it Fair! and Speaking Rights! programs in Canada. Before joining Equitas, Ruth collaborated with various community and non-profit organizations in Montreal, Burkina Faso, Argentina and Ecuador with a focus on empowering youth, children and women. She has been an integral part of teams building programs with and for youth addressing issues of bullying, prejudice, discrimination, self-esteem and youth engagement.
Cecilia Thompson – Senior Program Officer, Global Human Rights Education Program (GHREP)
Cecilia is responsible for the management of the Global Human Rights Training Program. Prior to this, Cecilia was a human rights consultant with various international and non-governmental organizations. Prior to her consultancy work, Cecilia worked for five years with the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights as a human rights officer. She has also worked with non-governmental human rights organizations in Geneva, Sri Lanka and the Pacific. She holds a BA in International Relations and Development from the University of Sussex, and a Masters in International Law from the Université du Québec à Montréal.
Élise Voyer – Program Officer, Canada
Élise has a Bachelor’s degree in International Law and International Relations from the Université du Québec à Montréal. After having worked as an intern with Equitas, she left for Haiti to develop and implement a human rights education program, working closely with Haitian lawyers and magistrates to deliver workshops on human rights and international human rights mechanisms. Now, back with Equitas, Élise saw to the smooth running of the International Human Rights Training Program for two years and is now working with the Canada Program team, concentrating on our activities in Québec.
