Amy Cooper – Education Specialist (on leave)
Amy works primarily on the International Human Rights Training Program and the follow-up programs in Central Eastern Europe/Former Soviet Union and she contributes actively to the online Community by moderating Virtual Conferences. She has a background in teaching with a focus on social justice education and worked for several years with students with learning disabilities. Amy has a M.A. in Education and a Graduate Diploma in Community Economic Development. Her interests are in youth engagement for social change, e-learning, and singing!

Cristina Galofre – Education Specialist (Equitas Community)
Cristina is the administrator of the online Equitas Community. During an internship at Equitas in 2008, she developed and evaluated a pilot version of a Human Rights Education Design e-workshop. Cristina holds an M.A in Educational Technology from Concordia University. Prior to joining Equitas, Cristina worked in Colombia developing projects related to the educational use of information and communication technologies.

Leigh Jaschke – Education Specialist
Leigh joined Equitas in March 2011. She works as a program officer and as an Education specialist. Currently, she is part of the IHRTP team and works with Canadian Programs Play it Fair! and Speaking Rights for children and youth. Leigh has worked with local and international organizations focused on education in West Africa. She has also worked as an English language teacher in China and as a teacher in Montreal.  

Julien Landry– Education Specialist
Julien has been working at Equitas since October 2011. He works primarily on programs related to the Global Human Rights Education Program and Canada. Prior to his arrival at Equitas, he worked for several years developing and implementing non-formal education programming for youth focused on issues of social justice and sustainable community development in Latin America and Canada. Julien has also developed curricula and training programs related to collaborative governance, social inclusion and participatory planning. He holds a M.A. in Community and Regional Planning from the University of British Columbia and a B.A. in International Development Studies from McGill University.

Vincenza Nazzari – Director of Education
Vincenza is responsible for the planning and development of curriculum for all of Equitas’ human rights education programs. She has participated in numerous international human rights education expert conferences. Prior to joining Equitas in 1995, Vincenza worked as an educator and curriculum designer with the Public Service of Canada. She also worked as the official languages advisor at the Canadian Space Agency and the Federal Office of Regional Development (Québec). Vincenza holds an M.A. in Educational Technology from Concordia University, a Joint Honours B.A. in Italian and Spanish from McGill University and a TESL certificate from Concordia University and has done graduate studies in Italian literature.

Annie Pettigrew – Education Specialist (on leave)
Annie works primarily on the human rights education for children and youth programs. Prior to joining Equitas, she worked in the international development field in Haiti. She has a Master’s degree in French Studies from the Université de Montréal and has studied adult education.

Daniel Roy – Senior Education Specialist
Daniel participates in the development of pedagogical material and the facilitation of training programs. He contributed to the development of the Play it Fair! program for children. Before joining Equitas, Daniel worked in Latin America for more than ten years in international development in Colombia, Costa Rica and Ecuador. He has a Master’s degree in Anthropology from Laval University, and he pursued his doctoral studies in anthropology at the University of British Columbia.

Jean-Sébastien Vallée – Education Specialist
Jean-Sébastien works on the Play it Fair! program for children aged 6-12, on the Speaking Rights program for youth 13-17 years old in Canada and the program in the Middle East and North Africa. Prior to being at Equitas, he worked as a Human Rights Educator at the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse du Québec, responsible for the design and development of pedagogical material, in particular for youth. He has a Masters degree in Second Language Education from McGill University and has taught at different levels in Québec and Mexico.
