Margareta Agop CGA – Controller
Margareta, (or as we know her – Sylvia) joined Equitas in April 2004. Since 2006, she has been acting as Financial Controller. As such, she is responsible for the overall financial management of the organization. Sylvia is a Certified General Accountant with many years of experience in finance and accounting.

Pego Brennan – Executive Assistant
Pego joined Equitas in 2002. She has many years of experience in the administration of not-for-profit organizations. Pego has a Bachelor of Arts degree from McGill University as well as a Bachelor of Science and a degree in Pedagogy from the University of Sherbrooke.

Ian Hamilton – Executive Director
Ian was appointed Executive Director of Equitas in January 2004. For five years prior to this, Ian was Equitas’ Director of Programs, helping to shape the organization’s programming during this period. He joined Equitas in 1997 as Director of the National Institutions Program, responsible for capacity-building projects with national human rights commissions, particularly in Asia. Before coming to Equitas, Ian worked for the Coordinating Committee of Human Rights Organizations of Thailand in Bangkok, assisting their campaign for the establishment of a National Human Rights Commission. He graduated from the University of Toronto in 1990 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History.

Carole Michaud – Administrative & Program Assistant
Carole has had a long and fruitful relationship with Equitas. Her first involvement goes back to 1987 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, when the organization was known as The Canadian Human Rights Foundation. She served as a volunteer and later as staff. She has now returned after a four year absence as an Administrative and Program Assistant. She prepares and implements all logistical elements of the IHRTP. Carole is a certified translator French, English, Spanish.

Thérèse Palu – Administrative Assistant
Thérèse, our friendly Administrative Assistant, has been working at Equitas since 1998. She is responsible for all tasks related to the reception and is the first person you talk to when you call the office during business hours.

Ronit Yarosky Fund Development Officer
Ronit joined team in February, 2007 as the Fund Development Officer. She is responsible for helping to increase and diversify Equitas’ funding, donor base and networks. Her interests include inter- and intra-community dialogue, and prior to working at Equitas she founded the Montreal Dialogue Group, an organization that strives to facilitate dialogue between the Jewish/Israeli and Palestinian/Arab/Muslim communities in Montreal. A native of Canada and Israel, Ronit has a Master’s degree from McGill University in Political Science with a focus on Middle Eastern Studies.
